Ventura Film Society 2013 Opening Night - May 25, 2013 through December 3, 2013

The Ventura Film Society will be kicking off the 2013 season with a screening of "The Blue Lagoon". Producer and Director, Randal Kleiser and Actor, Christopher Atkins, will be in attendance for the 5th season launch. "The Blue Lagoon" is the 1st of 21 films to be screened this season. Ventura Film Society screenings will continue through December with showings every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. Screenings will take place at 420 E. Santa Clara St in Downtown Ventura and tickets will be available at the door.

Ventura (Downtown) Farmers Market - May 25, 2013 through December 28, 2013
The Downtown Ventura Farmers Market is held at the City Parking Lot on the corner of Santa Clara and Palm Street every Saturday from 8:30am to 12pm. Walk Grant Park - May 25, 2013 through November 23, 2013

The Ventura Botantical Gardens will be hosting monthly Walks at Grant Park to exercise, explore, and appreciate nature on the 4th Saturday of every month. Join Jeff Lambert, Director of Community Development of the City of Ventura, or knowledgeable Ventura Botantical Gardens's members will be leading the walks while providing educational information on gardening and nature. Be sure to have comfortable shoes, a hat, sun block, water, and even a litter bag to pick up trash along the walk.

Meeting Location: Upper parking lot behind City Hall on Poli, which is just 0.5 miles from the Vagabond Inn Ventura hotel.

Boogie Nights 5K Summer Run Series - May 25, 2013 through August 14, 2013

The Boogie Nights 5K Summer Run Series will be taking place every Wednesday evening from May 22nd to August 14th, except July 3rd.. The summer run series will have two phases: The Promenade Series will be from May 22 - July 17th (no run on July 3) and the Trail Series from July 24th - August 14. This event is a great way to exercise and meet people on a weekday while helping raise money for the Buena High School cross country program. There will also be a free Kids 1K Run before every 5K to encourage kids to be physically active and healthy.

Location: Ventura Promenade and Arroyo Verde Park, which is just 2 and 10 minutes from the Vagabond Inn Ventura, respectively. Prices range from $15 - $ 120. All participants will receive a free t-shirt.

Mountains 2 Beach Marathon & Half - May 26, 2013

The Mountains 2 Beach Marathon & Half will have a 26.2 marathon and a 13.1 half marathon from Ojai to the Ventura Pier. The event will be providing shuttle service from the Ventura County Fairgrounds to the starting line in Ojai. Following the marathon will be a post-race party with the awards ceremony, music, race day expo, beer garden, and more. All participants who finish the marathon will receive a medal of the race logo made from recycled materials and all marathon entrants will receive a free recycled technical fiber running shirt.

Shuttle Location: Ventura County Fairgrounds, which is just 3 minutes from the Vagabond Inn Ventura hotel. Event starts at 6:00 AM. Fees range from $50 - $120.

Roadshow Revival: A Tribute to the Music of Johnny Cash - June 15, 2013

The Roadshow Revival will be hosting the 5th Annual Tribute to the Music of Johnny Cash for an expected turnout of thousands of fans and attendees. With a number of bands playing a combination of their top hits along with their own tributes to the memory of Johnny Cash, with featured musicians including Junior Brown, Robert Gordon & Chris Spedding, The Blasters, Cash'd Out, The Walking Phoenixes, The Americans, and Big River. Take a part of the pin-up pageant "Glamorour Girls of Ventura County", with the applications available on April 1. Participate or watch the Car & Bike Show which will have pre-1970 American cars and trucks, lowriders from 165-1973, and custom and vintage motorcycles on display.
